what dog breed is best for me?

Hi, me and my family desperately a puppy we’ve all been doing research (but mostly me). we’ve agreed that we would like a puppy that isn’t aggressive doesn’t Yap doesn’t shed much is good with kids and other dogs. we think that we would like either a small or medium dog. not a couch potato but not extremely hyper.were willing to take i on one to two walks a day. we have 4 kids all over the age of 12.but we frequently have visitors(some under the age of 5). please do not send me the ”what breed is right for me quizzes” ive already taken a dozen. just specific breeds.

Well honestly, qualities like not being aggressive, doesn’t bark, good with kids, ad is hyper usually differ within the individual dog, not the breed. Although some dogs are known for specific things like that, an individual dog might go against the stereotype. I think that you should go down to the shelter with your family and look at all the dogs. See which one you fall in love with. (Because really, which ever one you choose, you will fall in love with eventually!)
Some shelters and dog shops let you take them into a separate room to play with him/her a little and see its personality -but sometimes their personalities change, btw.

But a breed i suggest is a beagle. They are very passive animals. They’re not mean (but even if they have a moment, they’re small enough not to be scary or dangerous) They LOVE children. the time when they’re happiest is probably when they’re with kids. They are medium sizes. They can be 15″ and 36″ sizes. They are very happy dogs who love directed exercise, so being able to take her/him on 2 or 3 walks would be ideal. They LOVE to play, but they also love to cuddle
Beagles are known for being family dogs. They love being a part of a pack, so the fact that you have 4 kids will make the dog very happy.
Also, they have very short hair so it’s easy to care for.

Imprinting, Teaching, Proofing Method In Schutzhund Training

Imprinting, teaching, proofing.  The imprinting, teaching, proofing, is very simple. First I wanted to imprint the dog with what I’m going to teach it.

I’m personally not a big imprinter, so I don’t use a lot of food in my puppy training. I use it for tracking. But when I’m teaching or imprinting the dog, I’m going to show the dog what I want.

If I was using food, I would be motioning it, bribing him into spots, so it knows how to sit. Myself, I would make the dog sit with the leash in. Say “sit” and push down on his butt. show it what I want. “I want you to sit.” And I do that a few times. “I want you to sit.”

Then I’m going to get to the training stage. The training stage is making the dog sit. I’m not begging you sit anymore. I’m not asking you to sit. I’m going to make you sit.

Make you sit with slight correction ‑ whatever the dog needs to get him into sit. Once they sit, this is where if I had food, I would feed the dog. If I had my toy, I would play with the dog. If the dog has no food or play drive, I’d praise the dog lavishly.

dogs can do quite well with lavish praise if they don’t like playing and eating. Personally, a lot of people, in my opinion, do too much imprinting with the puppies. They make the puppies too focused on themselves.

I truly want my puppies dragging me out on the field with a bad guy, dragging me out to track him. I let my puppies be quite ruder than a lot of people do. My puppies don’t live in the house. There’s a big difference there. So I let them be fairly wild.

Then we get in the proofing stage of this. So now I’ve taught him how to sit. I’ve trained how to sit. He really will sit. Now I make it extremely difficult for him to sit ‑ whether it would be a dog barking, whether it would be other dogs around, people walking around, people throwing balls on the ground. anything that you can think of to make the dog not want to work, I throw in.

And this is the proofing stage. Most people never get passed the training stage. But a lot of people never get past the imprinting stage. They stay bribing all their time. Now, they’re definitely in the reward stage after my imprinting.

Once I’m training the dog, and then come reward. And once I’m proofing the dog, also, the reward comes out. I’m not holding the ball to make him sit, the ball’s put away. You sit, I give you the ball.

You sit anywhere I tell you to sit, not just beside me, not when I’m going to say it. When I’m in front of you, I’m behind you, I’m at the end of a 10‑foot leash, I’m anywhere I can, the dog’s on the back side, he can’t come towards me, and he learns to put his butt down quickly where I tell him.

The training of the dog is to…make the dog do what you want. And then, the proofing of the dog is to make sure that…He’ll do it anytime, anywhere, anyplace, without question.

That’s a good foundation.

dog vomiting and diarrhea but acting fine?

My 7 month old chihuahua woke up this morning with really bad diarrhea, like an explosion. It was a regular brown color but as I was cleaning i saw two or three tiny bright red blood spots around the area but not in the poop. Throughout the day he had 2 more accidents and vomited once. He has been acting perfectly fine all day, playing and eating. I’m thinking someone may have given him some human food since he’s not used to it. My other puppy vomited once today too but has been acting fine. I’m pretty worried. Help?

This is often caused because of a sudden diet change.
Have you changed your dogs diet or food brand recently?

This could also be a form of a mild allergy.

Worms also cause this often. Worm them both with puppy tablets or liquid. This is generally quite an easy task to complete.
If they continue to vomit for about 3 days you definitely need to see a vet as soon as possible.
