Installing & running Linux?

I have learned how to install Linux on a windows (win) PC. I run 50% of the time on Linux & the other 50% on win (because my school requires software that was designed to run on windows). I know about the wine application, but win applications run better on a win OS.

I have 5 computers running at once. I’m what people would call a computer guru. 2 servers, and main desktop, and 2 laptops (one for white hat stuff). both servers are dual boot systems. I use novell suse linux because it’s simple. on one of them it’s triple boot to linux, windows, and also myth-tv. on my white hat laptop I’m using many distro’s of linux, i have an old slackware install but also i use various live cds. mainly damn-small, and backtrack (search google for remote exploit .org). In any experience doing dual boot for the last 10 years, i always install the windows parts first because windows screws up the boot manager of all pcs.

What breed is my puppy?

My husband and I rescued a puppy last night and are trying to decide what breed he is. He has a square, medium sized snout, small brown eyes, small droopy triangle shaped ears, a slightly long straight skinny tail and wide, rounded flat paws. He has a mixed brown and black coat. He looks like he’ll probably be a medium to large dog. We saw the mom who ran away from us. She was about knee high height, brown, and had a kind of long body.

Sounds like he may have some basset in him..lol

i let mine out when they go to potty when they get sleepy i put them back in the crate…they learn that the crate is their sleeping place…my 2 go in it now without me putting them in there…i only latch the crate if i’m not home…my english golden retriever i just got her but in time she will learn…

I have a boxer puppy who is 4 months old. She is showing all the signs of being in heat.?

She has been humping this stuffed animal bear we got her, and I see that she has that yellow vaginal discharge stuff. It’s definitely not pee. Though she has been peeing a lot lately, indoors and outdoors. Also, outside I see a lot of poop that does not belong to her. There have been some male dogs wandering around lately that I haven’t seen before. Plus, she has been going crazy. Sweet one minute, violent the next. I really don’t get it. She is too young to be in heat right? She is only 4 months old. Could their be another explanation for her strange behavior, and heat like syptoms? Or is she just ahead of schedule?

Sounds like she may have a urinary infection.

I am feeding puppy 200 gms of pedigree food at 14 weeks?

We dont get supply of other dog foods like innova and wellness in our area (INDIA, HYDERABAD) so i am giving my dobermann puppy of 14 weeks Pedigree Large breed puppy. It approximately eats around 200gms-250gms per day in four portions ofcourse sometimes i mix boiled egg to its dry kibble.

Don’t go by the volume instructions on the packaging. They are always wrong and always too much.

Go by what your dog is able to eat in a single meal. If the dog doesn’t finish, give him a little less, if the dog is loosing weight, or not gaining weight properly, then feed him a little more.

What ever you do, don’t overfeed a greedy pup. Go by its weight and growth rate. A pup should look well, gleaming, bouncy, but not too pudgy.

Edit: Dobermans – even as puppies they should be fairly sleek in shape, in a very young puppy, a round tummy after food is OK, but it shouldn’t carry any obvious fat.

I just bought a 9 wk old puggle… tips/advice?

Im a new dog owner and know that potty training and kennel training is alot of work. What exactly is kennel training? Is that just getting them used to being in their kennel when youre gone? What are some tips you have for housebreaking a new puppy? Any advice, tips would be great thanks!! And i dont care that puggles are a breed between beagles/pugs I dont want any mean comments from people who insist these are just mutts and shouldnt be bred! Just nice people who have good advice for a new puppy owner! Thanks again!

I just got 9 week mini poodle a few days back!

Biggest thing is a schedule, Daisy Mae eats at the same time every day, and is crated when we aren’t home and at night.

I have noticed that food and water goes in.. within 10-15 minutes something has to come out.

I have introduced the brush to her as well, start small… a few moments here and there… but be consistent and frequent.

Socialize as much as possible without risking illness, other dogs that have been vaccinated, small children (with a watchful eye), and car rides.

Most of all patience… Be prepared for the middle of the night pee breaks… and accidents in the house too…
